Originally adopted by U.S. Military in WWII the SPAX was designed as an emergency crash axe, to aide in fire fighting and emergency rescue. It is a knife, a hatchet or pick axe whatever the situation warrants. It's 1/4" thick hardened 1095 carbon steel full tang construction has a 4" axe head that is wide and razor sharp. On the opposing edge of the blade is a pick axe which can double as a wedge or pry bar. The SP16 SPAX is the next generation in military survival tools and is finished in a non-reflective black epoxy powder coating. The center cut outs, on the axe head, are useful for turning on hydrants or turn off a gas valves. The comfortable Kraton® polymer grooved handle has internal guards, a lanyard hole and wrist strap. Side loading, 3 snap sheath features pivot ring, quick release buckle and leather strap for attaching to your gear. Molle straps allow for pack or vest attachment. Shealth is a combination of Cordura and leather. Sheath is available in black or army digital. Measures 13" overall. Weighs 1.95 lbs. Please specify sheath color.
