    Not Uncle Sam's Cooking
I bought these expecting the new menus in the ugly brown/beige/khaki bag of mystery. This is not so. What you can expect to be as Military as it gets is the entree and side dish, which both are very reminiscent of other MRE's I have eaten.

On the note of the main bulk of the pack, these two came in smaller pouches than other MRE's and the labels suggest the calorie content is less. Typical MRE's are around 1200-1300, whereas these sit pretty at 800. Fine and dandy if you plan on three meals a day, but not so for a 12 hour graveyard shit.

These, it is also noteworthy, are civilian market equivolents. They certainly give you the experience of an MRE, which is honestly fine by me (which means I will keep buying them, of course!), but they are not MRE's. The sealed foil bag that says CRACKERS that contains brittle, metallic quote-unquote, "crackers," have been replaced with club cracker packets. The cookie or brownie dessert have been replaced with something that is argueably tastier, but far less calories: the packet of bite-sized cookies.

These also, it is noteworthy, do not adhere to any set menu in the sense, as far as I can tell. I can't find any menus that give out the chicken stew with no santa fe style rice, if you catch my drift.

    Each MRE comes with:
-Entree (I got two of each, so six varieties)
-Side (Santa Fe Rice or Mixed Fruit cocktail)
    -The afformentioned cookies
    -Two club cracker packets
    -One diner-style container of jam
    -one salt packet
    -pepper packet
    -matches
    -spoon
    -MRE heater

    Major Response to Reviews
Estaben, thank you for your most recent post! Our MRE'S have a range from a year or less. These are military overruns and the shelf life is 5 years.

    Questions
What is the manufacture date and what is the "use by" date?. Are these military overruns or are they commercial "MRE's"

    "Complete"?
If these MREs were "complete", they would be in original packaging.

    Better than nothing
The quality of the main items is good. The cookies are getting a little stale, and the heaters are taking longer than normal to work.
