Greatest bag ever.
Awesome. Heavy. You wouldn't want to use for backpacking I have used this bag to sleep in the snow on the ground. Woke up covered in ice. -20 all night. Mine was dated 1950's. Better than modern 3 piece. Get a bivy cover to stay dry.

Excellent military specs
I bought this from Major Surplus back in 2000. Well made, came with a tear and leaked bird feathers and my seamstress hand stitched it--you would not be able to tell! I got lucky with real down, and cotton fabric. Heavy bag. Bet the modern fill works just as well. It gets toasty inside! Originally issued with a liner because there are snaps for it. Strongly suggest a liner to keep it clean. I dry cleaned it once with a reputable cleaner who knew how to treat down, a problem you will not have with polymer filling. If you plan on using it for outdoors get a slip bag (cover) to retain heat, minimize air draft, and ground dew. I keep mine for winter survival at home, travel on road, etc. Remember the hints (liner, slip bag) to complete your needs. Excellent buy if you do not mind weight. Otherwise you can pay in hundreds for lightweight mountaineering gear. Consider the other model (non-surplus) for lower cost, and up your game with slip bag with additional blanket insulation. I'll got with mummy style any day of week for body heat retention under tough winter conditions. I bought mine with durability in mind; it has not failed.

Good bag but overrated.
I bought one a few years ago, about 1 year later the zipper wore out. it kept me warm to about 25*or 30* anything colder than that I was cold & had to add extra blankets
